Our Vision
Irvine Head Injury, Inc. is one woman’s vision for excellence. For over twenty years, our multi-disciplinary treatment team has successfully evaluated, treated and cared for hundreds of people with a known or suspected brain injury.
We have committed ourselves to assisting clients reach their highest level of functioning with our continuum of rehabilitation and residential services. Our assisted living apartments, sub-acute rooms and adult foster care homes are designed and maintained to provide a comfortable, homelike environment throughout our clients’ recovery process. It is our belief that each client and their family are unique and should be treated with compassion, respect and integrity.
Our program is licensed by the State of Michigan and CARF accredited. Irvine Head Injury, Inc. is “the best kept secret in brain injury rehabilitation and long term care.
History
2003 – Irvine Neuro Rehabilitation Center opened a special needs unit. This unit is designed and managed for individuals requiring nursing with physician supervision. The clinical staff is the best in the industry.
1999 – Grand opening of the Irvine headquarters and main rehabilitation location, the Lahser Campus. The Lahser Campus combined its outpatient and semi-independent apartment programs in one facility. Patients who reside at this location are able to receive therapy in their own semi-independent apartment. The apartments are conducive for semi-independent living and are well constructed with the latest technology and maximum safety features. The Lahser Campus is also home for its administrative offices.
1998 – Irvine began construction for a new rehabilitation campus on Lahser in Southfield, Michigan.
1994 – Irvine opened the Newport Care Center for the residential treatment of patients with dual diagnosis. This new facility supported patients through extensive medical treatment, substance abuse and mental illness therapy, cognitive rehabilitation and residential care. These services further expanded Irvine therapeutic team to include a clinical staff of speech and language pathologists and physical and occupational therapists.
1993 – Irvine Head Injury Home, Inc. opened an outpatient office to include the treatment for persons not requiring residential care from the Irvine Home.
1992 – Irvine AFC , Inc. officially changed its name to Irvine Head Injury Home, Inc. The new program provided cognitive rehabilitation and residential care for persons with closed head injuries. The expansion of Irvine’s services included the extension of its rehabilitation team to include a clinical staff of nurses, case managers, recreational therapists, social workers, counselors and residential care assistants
1986 – The vision to care for patients began with the opening of Irvine AFC, an adult foster care facility. The Closed Head Injury program developed and grew into a full service organization to address the needs for both and patients and their families.
